Scenes from a... road trip!

On March 9th, we took a trip to Ohio to see the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Gman2 is interested in transferring there in the fall for his ministry studies.
We headed out Thursday evening, no work for DH and Nathan had off on Friday.

We hit some blinding snow in PA, but luckily it didn't affect the roads at all.

Still snowing a little in WVA, but not too bad.

And finally, four hours later we were in Ohio. The university is just inside of Ohio and we stayed in a hotel that night.

It was rather chilly and it flurried a bit so it was hard to take pictures, everything looked dark. But this turned out!

And, they gave us warm sugar cookies while we waited for the tour, yum!
The students attending there were our tour guides and they did a great job. So friendly and genuinely interested in all of us, they were even trying to recruit Nathan for the future!

What the students affectionately call, "Snowboarding Jesus" OR "Surfing Jesus" when it's warm!

The Portiuncula ~ "This small chapel, like St. Francis' original, has become a place of adoration, conversion, and prayer. The simple beauty of the small stone structure reverberates with the power of the Lord's presence. The stillness, imbued with the peace of the Lord's tender concern, draws visitors in and focuses attention on the Eucharistic Lord."

Then it was time to leave, the guys had the Italian meal to prep for with the CYM at church.
We went a different way home due to traffic that was shown on the PA turnpike.

It took us past Morgantown, into MD and...

right past the lake! It's only about 1.5hrs away from the lake house, the perfect meeting place if Gman2 brings his car to school.

So it seems to be decided, this is where he wants to go! I wish it was as close as Mount St. Mary's, but I think this is a better fit for him.
Let the excitement begin!

It was Nathan's weekend! 💩⚜

This past weekend was jam packed full of activity.
Nathan particiated in the First Lego League Championship and their 💩SLUDGE BUDDY💩 team won 3rd for the Programming Award. All the boys worked hard - in between the Tomfoolery during our meetings!
They also had two great coaches. I was one too, but more in the background and helping the boys putting together the boards.

The "arena" area - photo taken by their technology teacher.

Their project board

Core values - very important in FLL!

Nathan and JP getting ready to start

Cheering them on

3rd place in Programming!

The Gmen came to support their little brother, pretty easy since it was at UMBC and Gman2 had spent the night on Friday!

Then it was Scout time.
His "Old Goat" den did a skit with the parents acting as their arms, but they didn't know they were going to be in the front until we set it up... fun!

Awe, from a Tiger Scout to Arrow of Light.

Proud family

For all their hard work as den leaders, the den gave them a gift card and I stitched this up and made a card for them.

Finally, quiet time for stitching with my new favourite tshirt!
In that order works for me.

February's IHSW

Since I wasn't able to participate last month, here I am just a little late for February.

Friday afternoon I picked up my nieces so we could celebrate Christmas and their birthdays. Just a little belated, but that's how we roll.

Saturday morning I took the girls to have their nails done as their Christmas present, all three wanted gel - not spoiled much! I told them next year we're all getting henna tattoos!
The afternoon brought snow, such a pretty view from my craft room.

Sunday evening we dressed up and went to the Melting Pot for fondue to celebrate their 14th birthdays.

They wanted a goofy picture, they got it!

So even though this weekend was busy, I was able to take some time to stitch and almost finish my Welsh Dragon. I was making it for myself, but I think I'll give it to my Dad for St. David's Day instead. I do want to make myself a smaller one though.

Hopefully I'll be on time for next month.

Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop 💖

Welcome to another fun loving year of the Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop, brought to you by Sweetheart Jo!
Hop on over to her blog to follow the love and try to figure out who sent what.

Such sweet stitching, all three perfect for Valentine's Day! Who made this lovely trio?

What is Valentine's Day?
According to seven year old Aki...
"It's like where it's basically you give people cards, and it's 'be nice to everybody' day. Like if you see a stranger on the street, you can say, 'Hi.' "

So be like Aki, say Hi today!

Question time ❓❓

After way too long, I finally finished them!

But I made a mistake on the right and added an outline on the tale/back when it wasn't supposed to be there.
The one on the left shows what it looks like without it.
Does is really matter? Although the one on the right kind of looks like I've outlined boobs! 😆

Thoughts? Take it out or add to the other one?

Better Days ⛪

I needed to finish up Mom's chapel by Thursday because I was supposed to visit with her that day. But I decided that going for the weekend instead was a better idea (and I wasn't going to be finished by then anyway!)
So I hit the Stitching Post on Tuesday and decided to fill it in with the blue and white. They're both shimmery and I thought it would be better coverage. The best part... tent stitches!

Ming and Max kept me company as usual.

Although I did have to go back to pick up more blue 😠, I finished it on Thursday! I also picked up a Mill Hill frame while I was there, but it's really not that washed out when you actually see it.

So even though her actual chapel is not as big as the stitched piece, it will do!

Mom was thrilled with it and it's now in her room while she's in rehab. She's doing so much better, she was almost running down the hall with her walker this afternoon!

Thanks again for your prayers and best wishes for her, it worked!!!

Rough start to the year 😞

Where to begin?
For Christmas, my Mother spent it in the hospital with flu that turned into pneumonia. She was discharged (and probably shouldn't have been) and readmitted with flu and bronchitis two days later.
Dad was with her when she ended up having a seizure due to having low sodium, and her heart stopped. (At least that's what they think) After CPR, she ended up in ICU on a vent. So when I went to go visit her for the day, I was expecting to see her in a regular room and instead found her in ICU.

Thanks to my wonderful friend who works at Southwest, she flew in my older brother from Louisiana. DH picked him up in Baltimore after midnight and we met halfway so he could be with Mom too.

Honestly, it all jumbles together, but at one point she was off the vent and told me to take a picture of Dad sleeping! She doesn't remember it though.

It truly was a scary time, we thought she wasn't go to make it when she was reintubated because she was having such trouble breathing.
To make a long story short, after lots of prayers being said ALL OVER the world, she's doing much better!

So along with all the upset, we had some good moments with the family, especially when we knew she was on the mend.

Although this was taken during the initial stay in ICU, here's my brother "taking care of business!"

I was face-timing Nathan one night while at their house - I don't normally look like that! Tenny was missing her Momma, and I was a cheap substitute.

The GMen came up with Nathan the day Mom was transferred to another floor. Here we are with my nephews waiting in the lobby while she was being moved.

With Dad just before everyone left to go home.

While I was there, I started this for my Mom because it reminds me of her chapel at home.

I continued during my break at home, with company. I think they missed me.
And when I went back again, I was still working on it. Mom kept asking me if I was done yet - I knew she was feeling better!

And finally, here she is settled in rehab. Dad was able to bring Tenny for a visit, I think it did both of them good! She may be there as long as a month, but with her determination, it could be less. Go Mom!
I'm planning on visiting next week.

Here's the "sort of" finished chapel... but I'm not really liking the finish it's supposed to have.
I don't like that so much brown is shown in the background, I thought about adding a dark shimmering blue to make it look like it was night. Thoughts or other ideas?

And so with all the hospital visits and being away from home, then coming back and running around doing things here, I'm way behind on reading blogs. Just when I was almost caught up!
